Menachot 44a is a story that’s got it all—riches, romance, and samurai rabbis. In this ancient epic meets underwater fantasy, a tzit tzit-toting student gets in over his head when he pays a visit to an elite and ethereal woman who knows what she wants. What begins as a simple transaction results in our hero’s transoceanic voyage of tzadik proportions, and ends, upon the blessing of a wise and mountain-dwelling rabbi, with a partnership sure to leave you in stitches and in fringes.
