Bechukotai: Yavneh Day School Student Production

Recommended for ages 9+

This animated short was created by the 5th grade students of Yavneh Day School in Los Gatos, California. Yavneh Day School students studied the text for Bechukotai, wrote the songs, performed them, played the guitar, drew the backgrounds, and made the storyboards.

Then the G‑dcast staff handled the animation and final production.

This particular Parashat haShavua (פָּרָשַׁת הַשָּׁבוּעַ or “weekly Torah portion”) video helps translate the text of Parshat Bechukotai (בְּחֻקֹּתַי “by my decrees” Leviticus 26:3–27:34). Jewish interpretation is often very specific. There are a myriad of Jewish subcultures and people, and the interpretations in this video explores the array of thoughts that Yavneh Day School students have on Torah.
