Parshat Acharei Mot (2010)

Recommended for ages 12+

Bad stuff goes down in the desert in Parshat Acharei Mot.

God demands discipline: sends the Israelites to the corner with a bunch of heavy-duty rules to study. In Acharei Mot, Amichai Lau-Lavie revives his Bar Mitzvah Torah parsha to share what he’s learned after 27 years of sitting in the corner with this text.

Parshat Acharei Mot Gratitude

Each week, a different storyteller – some musical, some poetic, some just straight-up, tell the story of the current weekly Torah portion…and then we animate it! This particular Parashat haShavua (פָּרָשַׁת הַשָּׁבוּעַ or “weekly Torah portion”) video is Episode 29 from Parshat Acharei Mot (אַחֲרֵי מוֹת “after the death” Leviticus 14:1–15:33). Jewish interpretation is often very specific. There are a myriad of Jewish subcultures and people, and the interpretations in this series explores the array of thoughts that our diverse set of storytellers and contributors have on Torah. To see more of the videos in this series, please take a look at our collection here on our site or on our YouTube channel!
