August 2012 - G-dcast
When we talk about “midrash,” what are we really talking about? Alicia Jo Rabins, musician- well, who are we kidding, rock star- creative writer, and Jewish educator modeled a musical midrash of about Miriam (Moses and Aaron’s sister). After Miriam spoke badly of her brother Moses, she was stricken with a skin disease and exiled to the desert by herself for a week. Alica Jo turned this painful story into a song that is a mesmerizing first person account.
From flash animation to traditional Jewish papercut art, creativity of all kinds was zinging off the walls during Studio G‑dcast. Take a look at some of the art in progress, and join us in marveling at the diversity.
Check out a snippet of art from “Lonely at the Top: A Bromance” an animated short created by Judith Prays (storyteller) and Samuel Hayes (Animator). Judith RAPPED the famous love (?) story of Rabbi Yohanan and ReishLakish found in Gittin 47 and Baba Metzia 84 in the Talmud.
